Project information:
In masonry veneer building construction, a shelf angle or masonry support is a steel angle which supports the weight of the brick veneer and transfers that weight onto the main structure of the building so that a space can be created beneath to allow building movements to occur. ESI was contracted to remove the brick coursing at each shelf angle, bend, solder and install copper coated zinc flashing and reinstall the soldier coursing of brick with weeps. The flashing protects the steel shelf angle and weep vents allow moisture to exit the wall. The flashing drip edge protects the steel angle and ensures water does not travel back into the wall beneath the flashing.
